Lady Vikings Roll to Fourth Straight Victory

Five players in double-figures as Villa stomps Pitt-Titusville

TITUSVILLE, PA - Despite losing senior guard and leading scorer, Magan Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community) in the first minute of the game to an injury, the Villa Maria Lady Vikings dominated the University at Pittsburgh-Titusville Panthers 88-48 on Saturday evening to capture their fourth straight victory and improve to 10-2 this season.

Junior Jayvonna Kincannon (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community) finished with a game-high 24 points while freshman Shaquana Owens (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) was not far behind, netting 22.  Both players reorded double-doubles and neared triple-doubles with Kincannon adding 10 assists and 7 rebounds, while Owens chipped in 13 rebounds and 6 assists.

Villa opened the game on a 9-3 run.  After Pitt was able to get within three, 11-8, the Lady Vikings closed the first quarter on a 16-0 run.  They continued that run, scoring the first eight points of the second quarter, putting the game out of reach early.

Villa led 46-19 at halftime and did not let up in the second.  They led by as many as 43 in the second half.

Freshman Naomi Walker (Buffalo, NY/McKinley) scored a career-best 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while fellow freshman Lajanai Thomas (Kenosha, WI/Burgard) also netted a career-high 11.  Tia Onipede (Buffalo, NY/Erie Community) finished with 10 points for Villa.

The Lady Vikings return home after a nine-day layoff to host Sheridan College on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. in the team's last game before Christmas.
